The tuscan wines of Podere Conca:

Taste and Tradition for a Unique Flavour

The region has fertile grounds for the growth of vineyards: those of Podere Conca are characterized by structure and ageing.

The Tuscan wines are probably some of the more famous Italian wines in the world. Indeed, Tuscany has an ideal geography and climate for wine making: the most part of vineyards is cultivated on hill and mountain grounds, whilst only a small part is cultivated in level grounds. Thanks to that, Tuscany can boast 11 DOCG wines and 39 DOC wines, and our Agapanto Bolgheri DOC is one of them.

The vineyard cultivation in Tuscany have had a great development already since the time of Etruscan, even if the most important evidence takes back to Middle Ages.

With a vine area of almost 60,000 hectares, Tuscany produces more than 2 million hectolitres of wine. The Bolgheri area, where Podere Conca is located, with 1,319 hectares of cultivations – 1,163 of which with the denomination of controlled origin and the rest with IGT Toscana – produces 42,800 hectolitres.

Podere Conca, producer of Tuscan wines, is located in the core of the Bolgherese area, set between sea and hills, two kilometres far from the famous Viale dei Cipressi described by Carducci – one of the most beautiful tree-lined roads, now a UNESCO world heritage.

The old farmhouse, with fire red wooden windows and doors, where the restoration in the ’80s has preserved the traditional outer stone walls, faces Via Bolgherese, also called Via del Vino (wine road).

All around 4.5 hectares of fields with an old olive grove and the more recent Cabernet Franc vines, whose rows alternate with the olive trees in the respect of the respective space.

The Tuscan wines have different flavours, frames, and ageing processes – the vine of Bolgherese producers have been inspired by French and have chosen a great international wine variety such as Bordeaux. Indeed, they adapted well in the area and produced the great wines, which are today famous in the world.

In this context Podere Conca, a young and enthusiastic small company, has started its evolution also thanks to the consultancy of professional wine experts, agronomists, and vineyard experts to produce its Tuscan wines with a clear flavour and character.

Elleboro

Elleboro is the white wine IGT Costa Toscana of Podere Conca and is part of the Tuscan wines with a peculiar blend combining the grapes of Viognier, Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc.

Its name is a homage to a flower also known as Christmas rose, which was traditionally cultivated together with Agapanto (agapanthus) at Podere Conca.

Elleboro IGT Costa Toscana is one of the immediately recognizable Tuscan wines due to its notes of summer yellow fruits, the ideal in combination with aperitifs and fish dishes.

Agapanto

Agapanto is the label of the Bolgheri DOC red wine of Podere Conca, a blend with a strong character combining grapes of Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Ciliegiolo.

After 12 months in wooden barrels and 6 months in bottles, the wine acquires an elegant character, with an intense and bright colour.

With its unique notes of red fruits Agapanto Bolgheri DOC is perfect combined with cured meat, cheeses, and red meats.
