Podere Conca
Vineyards and Olive Grove
The vineyards of Podere Conca include 5,7 hectares.
A part of vines – 0.2 hectares of Cabernet Franc – are grown in terroirs rich in stones near the Podere, in an area where some of the noblest companies of the whole Appellation are located.
The second vineyard of 4.9 hectares, where Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Ciliegiolo, Viognier are produced, is located at Località Le Ferruggini, two kilometres far towards the sea, in terroirs with a sandier component, which is ideal for drainage.
The olive grove, rich of century-old trees – to which new rows were added in 1983 – include 3.8 hectares with about 800 olive trees of Leccino, Frantoio and Moraiolo varieties.
As vines, also the cultivation of olive trees follows the rules of organic agriculture with principles of biodynamic and exclusively hand-harvested olives.

Features that the soil give to the wine | Sandy soils favour a good drainage of water, wines tend to be finer and more elegant. This is the vineyard where we produce our Agapanto Bolgheri DOC, which comes out the following year to that of production, because since the beginning we want a pleasurable wine which is able to offer the aromas and the elegance of the grapes used to produce it. | This type of soil gives grapes with good acidity, boldness, and structure as well as it increases the colour potential. Therefore, we decided to plant Cab. Franc in this plot of land to produce Bolgheri Superiore. Indeed, it must get acidity, structure and boldness and improve in time, as a great wine, ideal for a long ageing. |
